Hi there— I’m Asijá, a STEAM Educator, Mentor, & Beauty n Style enthusiast with a deep passion for highlighting the underdog while empowering the next generation. With a formal education in Biology & Science Education, my personal experiences navigating climbing the career ladder, making an impact within the classroom, and advocating for representation made “Sisters in STEAM” a true passion project.

I was raised in Brooklyn, NY, where my interests spanned both science and the arts. I spent my early days in NYC pursuing opportunities in acting, modeling, though I faced a lot of rejection. Despite facing rejection from an AP Biology class, I was determined to excel in college, and I successfully graduated with flying colors.

After earning my biology degree, I embarked on a career as a middle school science teacher, educating 7th and 8th graders for six years. In my seventh year of teaching, I transitioned to high school science, where I taught Chemistry and Year 1 IB Physics. Alongside my teaching role, I also delved into content creation as a beauty and style influencer, fostering an online community and advocating for greater black and brown representation in STEAM fields.
